A modernized version of Oscar Wilde’s ‘Salome”, JOHNNY 316, directed by Erick Ifergan, unfurls in the boulevards of Hollywood, California. Vincent Gallo plays a penniless street preacher named Johnny who is "married to God" and who spends his days giving out pamphlets and spreading the word of God. One day, he meets Sarah, played by Nina Brosh, a beautiful bereft hairdresser who lost her job. For Sarah, it is love at first sight. She follows the preacher home and tries to seduce him.
Despite his deep attraction to her, he pushes her away. Oblivious to his rejection, Sarah continues to pursue the preacher, convinced that she can win him over. Poetic and violent, this impossible love story explores the themes of spirituality, intimacy and loss, set against the backdrop of the harsh unforgiving reality of the streets.
Using the lo-fi, washed out style common to Gallo's own flicks, this violent and erotic film is sure to induce love/hate reactions.
Yesterday I got an email from a wonderful friend Tony from Portishead who reported me that he got home after doing two shows with Portishead and both shows were fantastic. They are coming back to their activity soon with their 3rd long-awaited record. I am very excited to meet them next year.
…Your softly spoken words release my whole desire…Undenied…totally…
Absolutely nothing can be compared with Beth’s singing, nothing absolutely. She's a voice of a shivery flame, beautiful and lonely on the wind.
"This guy is the maximum! Berlin based NAMOSH is hyperactive, incredibly sincere and talented musician-entertainer with a hard rocking, crawling, dancing, stage-diving energy flash who combines wildest Berlin Electro Rock with a mad singing, rapping, preaching, screaming voice and a fat, funky beat. Outstanding and unique, Namosh conquered the Berlin scene by storm in the past two years and is ready to go with his first album Moccatongue all over our green planet. Expect nothing less than the completely unexpected! It's totally unique. Hard to believe? Come to see."
we are on the road.

[drop in] to hang out with us and have a [drink] or two. la la la ....
I know there might be some of you who still keep eyes on my diary. Well, It’s been a while, since the last time I have appeared here. There are so much things currently happening in my life. One of them, the summer is getting closer to its end.
Here go my snippets.
America is not bad at all, especially when one of your best friends, an American political journalist claims : “It’s shite, it’s completely full of retarded people who made me want to leave this country” and the second friend of mine is currently hanging out at LA, just spends his vacation in the place that sometimes I see in my dreams…well, the third one, he’s sitting on his plane at the moment, leaving to UK to play a few shows for more than 20,000 pairs of eyes that some of them could be yours, who knows. The others ones are lost in different parts of our lovely green planet. Having friends is probably the best things that we can have and can be rewarded of in our life. All you need, you can get from them. A lot of my friends are far away at the moment and change their whereabouts every night. And sadly, most of them can be only reached by any non-verbal ways – text messages, numerous emails..this is internet….and they can rarely be hugged. It’s not good at all.
I am utterly at a loss when somebody gives me a quick question like : "Who's Putin, is he good or bad?" - I have been asked a thousand times - and I used to say that Putin is the good, the bad and the queen. No jokes unless you really know who Mr. Putin is.
“It doesn’t matter what type of Russian visa you have got, you have been given it for free, absolutely”. If I wasn’t so terse, you would probably know more why Morrissey is a bad person that hates to play at the venues which used to be slaughter houses in the past and how to completely stop drinking alcohol after being a responsible tour-manager for The Pogues, the main word here is ‘responsibility’, correct.
Just for the record, there was something in the air that inspired me to write something what you have just read, in fact I am always used to do different things in my life being inspired by that something...it can be different from time to time, but I am always fascinated by the things which are around me. That's it.
I hope that your life is treating you well.
Lots of love, Cheers. Current Mood: just briming with thoughts Current Music: time tonight
06:51 pm - Tangled up in music "At the end of the day, when I sit down after doing everything that I need to do for the day, and I sit there in front of my speakers, and I listen to some beautiful music, it puts everything in place, and I feel like the whole world is perfect. That is not stupid. That is the most important part of my day. It doesn't matter what I've accomplished that day or, shit, how much money I've made that day, or anything like that doesn't mean anything. What matters is at the end of the day where I can sit there, put on a Velvet Underground record, and the world is perfect, nothing is wrong with it. Everything is exactly the way it is supposed to be. That's how I feel when I hear music, and that's how it's been my whole life."
John Frusciante is a person to be remembered at these days as the days filled with love and music from the hearts for living in peace and harmony with the world around us, simply this is what we need to have to achieve the life’s success.
here's just a quick note to tell that a good mate malcolm middleton is about to release his new album 'a brighter beat' on the next week already. don't miss your chance to listen it, 'cos it's such a brilliant record which has a lot of gorgeous songs on it.
and my dear uk mate pete writes me (might sound a bit nostalgic) :
"I'm excited about going to see malcolm play, too. I used to have that song A Brighter Beat, because i loved it so much - i was really sad and depressed when i got back home from russia, and couldn't talk to people or go out, and that song made me want to jump up, get dressed, run out the door and go to the pub and talk to people."
"I woke up in Emma's house and we stood and looked out the window when dawn came and everything was white, and we took pictures and kissed each other. It was fucking great."
and yes, it is. they both speak of love and i love them both as they are great.
Long time no hear and it's good to be back here. There are a lot of things currently happening in my life. I’ll tell you what, 2006 was pretty awesome. I happened to meet a lot of wonderful people who became a big part of my life. It’s just amazing thing about music. At first, I met a great guy whom I always wanted to meet and become friends – Josh Klinghoffer, a talented multi-instrumentalist who worked together with P.J. Harvey, Beck, Sparks (brothers Mael are probably the best brothers I have ever met in my life), Gnarls Barkley (you remember their massive track called “Crazy” - ….I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind…and so), in the band of Vincent Gallo and of course, together with John Frusciante ( I’m sure, I’ll meet him one day and I know that it will be one of the best days of my life). I always keep in touch with mate Josh, wherever I go. At summer days I met Devendra Banhart, Malcolm Middleton and Aidan Moffat (both are very cool guys and very sincere persons) - it would have never happened without wonderful Max Silva-Vega, at the end of 2006 I happened to meet a gothic-rock legend ‘The Sisters of Mercy’ and guitar player Ben Christo who became one of the reasons for me to visit London this spring. Who else? Neneh Cherry is a Queen, such a lovely and beautiful lady. We’ve had a very good connection. It was a big pleasure to have a chat with her. She told me some incredible stories about recording a track ‘Kids with guns’ with Gorillaz. She’s currently living at Sweden( a country that I felt in love with), hope to meet her and everybody @ cirKus soon at my next visit to Sweden. Nicky Siano (a legendary disco DJ, who in 1972 at the age of 17 opened the Gallery club in SoHo, Manhattan with his older brother Joe. When The Gallery was closed, Nicky was hired to play as a resident DJ at legendary club of all-time – Studio 54, which was the party place for the whole art society lived and worked at 70’s - Andy Warhol, Mick Jagger, David Bowie and Grace Jones and many others. Nicky has a great heart. That would be great to meet him again. Los Hermanos (fabulous guys who play detroit techno live, real detroit flava. We had a great time hanging around Moscow city. They say I’ve been admitted to Los Hermanos and been given a permanent membership of Underground Resistance. They are my Detroit brothers.
And Starsailor, is a popular British rock band that used to play on the huge rock festivals around the world. On the very last song, James Walsh invited me to team up with him on stage in singing ‘Silence is Easy’. We did it. I am thankful to James and all guys for coming over in Moscow and playing a fucking great show, we all had a lot of fun. Nobody dares to forget a crazy night at Krizis Zhanra after the show (thanks to Nash from Blast for hospitality and warm atmoshere reigned that night in the club). We all got drunk and were happy with it. Great time, great sweet memories.
You can even watch the video below. (Cheers to lovely killacat for being ready to film it)
I’m surrounded by wonderful people that make me stay positive and happy every day. A lot of you. “Love is the message” – said to me Nicky Siano. He’s damn right, yes he is. All the best to all of you. Let all your days be filled with magic and wonder.
For those of you whom it may concern. Next best thing from one of my all-time favorite songwriters Damon Albarn - is a project called "The Good, the Bad and the Queen".
The band, which consists of Damon Albarn, The Clash's bassist Paul Simonon, former Verve member and Gorillaz guitarist Simon Tong, and Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Kuti and Africa 70 legendary drummer Tony Allen, and widely known producer Danger Mouse, will be releasing debut album in January 2007 and the whole album will be titled The Good, the Bad and the Queen as well.
Just don't waste your time. Give a listen to some of live tracks recorded at one of their debut gigs on BBC Electric Proms at Camden on the date 26th October. Eclecticism married to instantly-memorable melody is the key to the self-titled album, which they played in its entirety on BBC Electric Proms.
“Without music, life would be a mistake” - Nietzsche
Catching wind, embracing rain. Sleeping in the autumn shade.
If I had a one million records I'd know for sure which one I like most. Which one I would take to carry through the years. ‘To Record Only Water For Ten Days’ by John Frusciante. Once I happened to get to know it, it became a part of my life. I don’t really make no mention of other John’s albums, though I like all the records he had done in the past, as far as they all are fabulous, but this album is highly intimate and very dear to my heart. I also think it’s more like to immerse a body to the big bowl filled with sounds, breathing with words in the air and getting deeply inside of it. It works as the systematic trainings of yoga. I stretch my body to the sounds, simply going beyond my consciousness. A personal space with no boundaries. I’d also consider it as a source of endless emotions and profound feelings. Something like I never heard before and always wanted simply to find it. I truly felt in love with it. In times, when I wasn't okay, it helped me to overcome the difficulties. I was just giving myself a promise to get over the bad things. I still keep my promise alive whatever it happens. I'd rather to say that the music makes me feel good every time I appeal to it. Then I do it again and again.
A reflection of the season.
Let the pretend take over And the season be the first Shadows we're in become us So we set up interspersed Between here and away Become your space every day
To Record Only Water for Ten Days is the sound of one man saving his own life.
"Symbolically it’s like if you walk around with the tape recoder all the time and just recording nothing, but the water...sounds of water for ten days. You might have a similar sort of a spiritual awakening that I had making the record. Because I’m pure inside and the music that comes out of me is a life-giving thing like water. And playing guitar, it sounds like a liquid. Water is a good thing."
“I think my songs exist before I write them, in a place called the fourth dimension where sounds and shapes and colours are the land. They’re the air and the grass and the wood and they’re all these feelings. When a collection of those feelings is put into my head, because I’m tuned into that place, I have the skill technically to turn it into a song.”
I still can’t stop wondering how music can make us so vulnerable and strong at the same time. It points, it gives more directions to go. Life would be really a mistake if there was no music around us. But John seems to be one of few people who know where the real music flows as a water.
John Frusciante and Josh Klinghoffer are two brilliant master-minds of the Universe I am currently living in. Best of all I can find in the endless world of music – it’s about them. I highly value this period of time - listening to John’s music, discovering the depths of life and being somewhere around to his music - it's in the air, space and altered dimension and between closed doors to somewhere.
There is no name yet for the places he and his voice go, his talent sadly never fully realized.
'Winter Academy' is a tender heartbreak, a quietly twisted bittersweet symphony.

When I close my eyes I think of you When I close my eyes See all of you When I close my eyes I see you for what you were Before the autumn came But life itself is strange Night and day
Немного, скажем, неожиданно было получить новость о том, что мои большие шотландские друзья Эйдан и Малкольм объявили о внезапном распаде Arab Strap после десяти лет совместного творчества.
Yes, it’s the end for Arab Strap. After ten years, six studio albums, three live albums and all manner of everything else, we’ve decided the story should come to a close. There’s no animosity, no drama, we simply feel we’ve run our course and The Last Romance seems to us the most obvious and logical final act of the Arab Strap studio adventure. Everybody likes a happy ending! We will, of course, be celebrating. Our anniversary compilation, “Ten Years Of Tears” will be released this October/November and we are planning what will be our Farewell Tour (which sounds kind of cool) around the release in the UK and Europe. We hope you’ll be able to join us, but if you can’t make it then let us take this opportunity to thank you for listening. It is midnight on the 8th of September 2006 and I have just opened a beer. Cheers.
- Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton
"Pop stars are capable of growing old. Mick Jagger at 50 will be marvelous, a battered old roue. I can just see him. An aging rock star doesn't have to opt out life. When I'm 50, I'll prove it..." - David Bowie, 1979
"But, you know, I don't feel fifty. I feel not a day over forty-nine. It's incredible. I'm bouncy, I feel bouncy" - David Bowie, 1997
He’s the only one artist who can make me feel sad when I see him getting old day by day. These thoughts make me think of 'The Hunger' movie where Bowie played a role of vampire. He isn't immortal and his youth goes away, he starts to get predictably depressed and the aging process is showed in a marvelous way. I think about this and I think about personal history Better take care I breathe so deep when the movie gets real When the star turns round Again and again He looks me in the eye says he's got his mind on a countdown 3-2-1 Forever
Wanna be here and I wanna be there Living just like you, living just like me Forever
And I'm running down the street of life And I'm never ever gonna get old
Never ever gonna get old
So many incredible characters he created and wrote so many brilliant songs. I was always fascinated by his music and lyrics, his everlasting charisma, genuine charm and irresistible sexuality he spread around. And I will always be magnetized by things he had done in the past. The man who always lived for art and never was out of fashion.
Shine a little light upon the day that sees you through Shine a little light upon the day You went to catch a falling star Too far to catch a falling star ...
When the wind turns on the shores lies another day I cannot ask for more When the time bell blows my heart And I have scored a better day
Seasons come, seasons go, but some things remain the same.
Exquisitely melodic, haunting, both three-in-the-morning air of calm and nape-hair-raising at the same time. With a spiritual depth, but palpably human emotion. With a definite feeling of sadness, but infused with the joy of nature.
God knows how I adore her voice. Beth Gibbons, she's like a Phoenix Bird, burning down her beautiful feathering woven from the colorful sounds right before your eyes. Until there's no any sound left. Refering to the moment when silent rises up again.
